Wisdom Oak Vineyard

Wisdom Oak Winery was such a lovely surprise tucked away in a neighborhood down a long narrow road about a mile from the main road in North Garden Virginia. Located just minutes from Charlottesvillle . I set off on an adventure that day to find the boutique vineyards in the area. What a lovely charming place.

What is a boutique vineyard? It is one of the smaller off the beaten path wineries that do not mass produce their wines. These wineries often are able to deliver a more personable experience to their customers and that is exactly the experience I received this day.

Tastings are $14 and include any 3 wines of your choosing and if you purchase 3+ bottles your tasting is FREE.

My tasting included their Albarino aged in stainless and dry but absolutely gives way to the citrus used. Their White Cab Franc is aged in stainless they took a red grape and made it a delicious white. Petite Manseng is a neutral oak and bursts with flavor of honey not to be confused with sweetness but just the right amount.

I also was intrigued by their Mystery Red. The winemaker does not reveal what varietal is used to create this bottle but allows its consumer to taste and enjoy and guess what is used . The grand reveal doesnt happen until every bottle is SOLD. ( should be happening soon since their are only 2 cases left). It was a delicious red with a smokiness and jammy cherry flavor which reminded me of a South African Pinotage or a peppery Malbec.
